The Council of Heritage Western Cape appoints permit committees and delegates functions to these committees to process and implement permitting regulations in line with the NHRA. The Council further delegates functions to staff seconded to HWC which conduct aspects of its business specifically relating to permitting applications, annual reporting and other business of HWC under the terms of the NHRA.

The Council further delegates functions to staff seconded to HWC which conduct aspects of its business specifically relating to the identification, protection, management and promotion of heritage resources permitting applications, annual reporting and other business of HWC under the terms of the NHRA. These include, amongst other activities, reviewing and permitting of development applications, research related applications, formal protections of Grade heritage resources, oversight of inventories and spatial development frameworks that require heritage considerations, etc_CS inputs

Impact Assessment Committee in terms of section 38 (IACOM)(WD inputs)
Inventories, Grading and Interpretation Committee (IGIC) in terms of Section 27 and Section 25, Conservation Bodies. (CM inputs)
Appeals Committee in terms of Section 49
