Heritage Western Cape

Heritage Western Cape is the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority (PHRA) with jurisdiction for heritage management at a provincial level in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.  It is established in terms of section 23 of the  National Heritage Resources Act, Act 25 of 1999 (NHRA) read with the Provincial Gazette Notice 336 of 2002. It derives its competency from the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) as provided for in section 8(6) of the NHRA.  

What does this mean? Heritage Western Cape protects and looks after old buildings, historical places, and cultural landmarks in the Western Cape. They make sure these special places are preserved and enjoyed for future generations

Heritage Western Cape ensures and implements the inclusive identification, sustainable and integrated management, conservation and promotion of tangible and intangible heritage resources contributing towards transformation and nation building.
